History

The organisation began life as North Riding Association of Youth Clubs in 1940. Reflecting the changing society and political boundaries we have been through several name changes including "North Yorkshire Association of Youth Clubs" and most recently "Youth Clubs North Yorkshire".

In April 2007 the organisation moved from an unincorporated Association to a new company registered with the Charity Commission.

In line with this change in organisational status the name changed to North Yorkshire Youth to more accurately reflect our focus on the concerns, interests and lives of young people, rather than on any particular setting in which they meet.
