NYY Youth Work Development team secure funding

VCS Youth Support Project funding secured for another 3 years at North Yorkshire Youth.

North Yorkshire Youth are delighted to announce that we have been successful in securing a further 3 years funding to continue providing the VCS Youth Support Service in North Yorkshire. The grant, offered by 4Youth, North Yorkshire County Councils Youth Service, shows their ongoing commitment to the voluntary sector and the volunteers who provide positive activities for young people. NYY have held this grant for 3 years and thanks to the successful reapplication we are able to continue providing high quality support and guidance to volunteers and young leaders working within their communities, from April 2010.
Lucy Downes, Head of Youth said: “The team are thrilled to have been awarded the contract for another 3 years. We can now look forward to putting in to action all the plans we proposed in our recent application for the funding.”

This unique partnership project responds directly to local needs. Volunteer led youth work and provision makes a significant contribution to ‘places to go and things to do’ for young people in North Yorkshire. The population and geographical spread means that small scale community based provision is vital for young people. Within the first 3 years NYY supported over 100 clubs, projects or groups in North Yorkshire, and has provided support to enable over 1000 young people to participate in Positive Activities.

“The team at NYY have responded directly to the brief,” says Terry Begley, Principal Youth Officer, 4Youth Service: “We are pleased to be able to continue working closely with Lucy and the Fieldworker team to support the work of the Voluntary Youth Sector in North Yorkshire”.
